What Is Candida?
Candida is the name given to different species of yeasts, the most common including candida albicans, candida tropicalis, and candida parapsilosis, which can lead to candidiasis or moniliasis. This is the most common fungus disease. While candida may exist as saprophytes (plants living on non-organicmatter) in healthy individuals, under certain conditions candida can become pathogenic, meaning they will produce disease.
Who Is Likely To Suffer From Candidiasis?
Anyone can suffer from candidiasis, however it is commonly found in children or elderly people who suffer from long-term disease. Pregnant women and those with diabetes are particularly likely to develop candidias in the vagina. It can cause serious problems to those receiving certain antibiotics or steroids over a long period of time, and those who undergo abdominal surgery.
How Does Candidiasis Affect People?
Candidiasis usually affects the mouth (known as thrush), vagina (Yeast Infection where it turns vaginal fluid thick and white), skin, nails and lung passages. It is usually not serious and readily responds to treatment. However, if it spreads to the bloodstream or meninges (membranous tissues surrounding the brain) it can become extremely serious. Therefore, early detection and treatment are essential to good health. It can have a great effect on food sensitivities. Most people with candida will not have a very effective immune system.

What Type Of Hair Sample Is Needed?
Cut a small lock of hair the size of 1/2 your small fingernail from the back of your head, as close to the scalp as possible and put it in a plastic bag.
Please…
1. Drink a glass of water 10-30 minutes before cutting the sample.
2. Be awake for at least 10 minutes before cutting hair.
3. Make sure that hair has not been dyed 3 weeks prior to cutting.
Handle hair as little as possible and mail with the test order form to the address below.
How Can I Receive My Results?
If using teh Omega a printout and explanation of the readings will be given to you or emailed, mailed or faxed to you, your doctor, or practitioner. Results will be mailed within 7 days of receipt of sample. If doing it through Hair analysis we sill call you to discuss the results of the testing.
